Background
Chartered in October, 1977, the D.C. Chapter was born out of
a late lunch hour meeting held on June 7, 1977. The 22
attendees represented various entities of the federal and D.C.
criminal justice community. The word and vision emanating
from previous conferences in Alabama and Georgia inspired
this group of founding members who unselfishley forged the
foundation for the future of the D.C. Chapter.
Our Mission
The mission of the District of Columbia Chapter of the National
Association of Blacks in Criminal Justice is to facilitate change
within the criminal justice system through mentoring,
professional development, and public awareness. This is
accomplished by utilizing partnerships, networking, research,
and enhancing public awareness and knowledge of legislative
